MBR Hits Halfway Point in 2022 Schedule This Weekend in Columbus

First time participating at National Trail Raceway

Michalek Brothers Racing returns to action this weekend at National Trail Raceway in Columbus, Ohio for the JEGS SPORTSnationals.

Michalek Brothers Racing (MBR) is preparing for a midseason homestand with this weekend’s JEGS SPORTSnationals at National Trail Raceway (get directions) just outside of Columbus, Ohio. The historic central Ohio facility will welcome some of the nation’s best Top Alcohol Dragster drivers and teams for a nearly week long event that will crown champions by Sunday evening, and MBR is eager to fire up their Fund That Flip / Empowerment Alliance A/fuel dragster so close to home.

“This is the halfway point for our season and I’m very excited with the progress we’ve made this year,” said Kyle. “Our team is really starting to hit its stride from the crew doing a great job preparing the car, the activation of marketing objectives and progress with each of our business partners, and the car’s on-track performance. We have a lot of work left to be done, but we are excited to hit the ground running as we take on the back half of our 2022 schedule!”

In just 3 events to date in 2022, MBR currently sits in the top 20 in the NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster national point standings. Season highlights to this point include:

  • Resetting the team’s career best elapsed time, a blistering 5.187 seconds during a first round victory at the 2022 NHRA Gatornationals
  • Adding SJK Machine and BURNYZZ Speed Shop to the list of Michalek Brothers Racing partners for the remainder of the 2022 season
  • Winning the 2022 NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at zMAX Dragway

“You always have a vision for how the season will go, but it never turns out anything like how you expect it to,” said Corey. “We were optimistic coming into the year after the way that the car picked up at every event we took it to in 2021 starting in Norwalk, but I’ve gotta say that this has been an absolute blast so far through these first 3 races. We honestly could have parked the car after Charlotte and called it a great year when comparing it to previous seasons, but we’re hungry for so much more.”

“Our current challenge is getting this car to flex its muscles in the heat and we’re dedicating all of our attention to making progress on that this weekend in Columbus. This event is really big for us because it will be our first time racing at a facility that’s right in our backyard. We’ll be making as many laps as we can starting on Wednesday during the track’s open test session because these are the types of conditions that we need to be able to run hard in if we want to be successful during the summer months including our next two stops at Norwalk and Indianapolis in the next month and a half.”

MBR’s schedule for the 2022 JEGS SPORTSnationals is as follows:

  • Friday, July 15: Qualifying (Rd. 1) – 6:00PM
  • Saturday, July 16: Qualifying (Rd. 2) – 12:00PM, Qualifying (Rd. 3) – 3:00PM, Eliminations (Rd. 1) – 6:00PM
