Michalek Brothers Racing 2019 Season Update
Michalek Brothers Racing (MBR) heads into 2019 with a new perspective, humbled by the love and support of family and friends, and the overwhelming embrace from the racing community far and wide. On Saturday, February 23, the MBR family received a precious gift when Kyle and Stephanie Michalek’s firstborn son, Andrews, was brought into the world. Tragically, Stephanie’s life came to an end that same day. As the team looks to find a way forward, attention has shifted away from the racetrack towards pulling together to support raising Andrews.
“The amount of love and support shown by family and friends during this difficult time has been undeniably powerful and deeply meaningful,” said Kyle. “It’s hard to articulate how much that support means to me. Thank you to everyone who has reached out. All of these kind gestures, both large and small, have been incredibly humbling and I am forever grateful for your love.”
Michalek Brothers Racing will make its one confirmed race appearance for the 2019 season on Saturday, August 10 in Norwalk, Ohio at Summit Motorsports Park’s famed 42nd annual Kelly Services Night Under Fire. MBR will square off in a rematch against Gutierrez Brothers Racing in an A/fuel vs. Blown Alcohol matchup in front of what promises to once again be a capacity crowd. At this race, MBR will debut a commemorative decal on their A/fuel dragster celebrating the life of Stephanie.
Any further plans of participating during the remainder of the 2019 season will be evaluated by the team following the Night Under Fire. The team remains optimistic about a return to a regular schedule in 2020 and beyond.
